"Spread Gorilla"
A little back story on this. My friend Mike was setting up an Xbox Live account and his gamertag of choice was taken, so he used the name generator to come up with one, and it came up with "spread gorilla". Of course, the first thing that came to mind was that this was a modification of the term "spread eagle", which conjures all sorts of vivid images. This struck a chord with our group of friends, and he immediately chose that name. The other thought that immediately occurred to me was, "I should Google this." So I did.
There were 339 results, most of which involved the act of spreading Gorilla Glue. The top result, though, is even more coincidental. It was a page of the UNEP WCMC website that mentioned the geographical spread of gorilla populations.
This is a case in which certain words just happen to fall adjacent once in a while. As far as I can tell, no one has actually coined the phrase, "spread gorilla" before. The way Google works, we should expect such a page to fall near the top of the results if it did exist. We've coined it now, so either this blog or Mikes Xbox profile should become the first result. It should be interesting to see how long this takes.

"Turned out to have a penis"
Results: About 5,270,000
Today's search was inspired by the transgender segment of the population. Results were more diverse than that, however. Some were, in fact, message board posts about hooking up with a lady only to realize that "she" isn't really a "she" at all. Others, however, concerned fetuses coming up male. On both sides, the results were generally humorous. An interesting side-effect of searching for specific results is that it eliminates some of the things we might not want to see. If I ran this search without quotes, it likely would have focused on "penis," since the rest of the words are fairly common. I'm not going to bother trying it to see what pops up, but I can imagine it would be more obscene and less entertaining. With quotes, we eliminate those extraneous results and focus on just the pages with the phrase we want, which doesn't tend to give us anything particularly graphic.
The first result, xkcdb.com was a little messed up. It's a constantly updating quotes site, and the page to which Google directly linked did not contain the line for which I searched. Searching within the site, however, gave me the result I was looking for, here.
Result #2, seen here, seemed rather random. It's an article from 2007 about NFL wives and girlfriends. The phrase occurs in Bridgitte Neilsen's section.
The rest of the results on the first page include a discussion about transsexuals, another about the importance of the size of a man's penis (turned out to have a penis the size of half a hot dog), and some more discussions about baby names. All in all, pretty entertaining. Each site offered something a little different. This kept me entertained for an afternoon, and I only read the first page of results.

12. Brigitte Neilsen (Mark Gastineau)
Looking back at the 1980s, there are some things that just can't be explained. Mullets. Skinny leather neckties. "Rock Me Amadeus." Neilsen as a sex symbol.
Beyond her Oscar-caliber work as "Red Sonja" and as Mrs. Drago in "Rocky IV," she was most famous for casting such a spell over Gastineau, the Jets volatile sack machine, that he retired early in order to spend more time with her. But beyond Gastineau and Sylvester Stallone, whom she later married, there wasn't a man among us who would've been surprised if 'Gitte turned out to have a penis.
