"Spread Gorilla"

A little back story on this. My friend Mike was setting up an Xbox Live account and his gamertag of choice was taken, so he used the name generator to come up with one, and it came up with "spread gorilla". Of course, the first thing that came to mind was that this was a modification of the term "spread eagle", which conjures all sorts of vivid images. This struck a chord with our group of friends, and he immediately chose that name. The other thought that immediately occurred to me was, "I should Google this." So I did.

There were 339 results, most of which involved the act of spreading Gorilla Glue. The top result, though, is even more coincidental. It was a page of the UNEP WCMC website that mentioned the geographical spread of gorilla populations.

This is a case in which certain words just happen to fall adjacent once in a while. As far as I can tell, no one has actually coined the phrase, "spread gorilla" before. The way Google works, we should expect such a page to fall near the top of the results if it did exist. We've coined it now, so either this blog or Mikes Xbox profile should become the first result. It should be interesting to see how long this takes.
